A Christmas Tribute

As the holiday season gets into full swing, I wanted to take a moment to step back and remember why this time of year is so important.

Alan Jackson summed up the importance of this season with the song “Let it be Christmas”. The chorus of the song says it all:

Let it be Christmas everywhere
Let heavenly music fill the air
Let every heart sing let every bell ring
The story of hope and joy and peace
And let it be Christmas everywhere
Let heavenly music fill the air
Let anger and fear and hate disappear
Let there be love that lasts through the year
And let it be Christmas
Christmas everywhere

Let it be Christmas everywhere
With the gold and the silver, the green and the red
Christmas everywhere
In the smiles of all children asleep in their beds
In the eyes of young babies their first fallen snow
Elderlys’ memories that never grow old

It is up to us to make this a happy and memorable season for those around us. Let us take a break from the partisan politics of Washington, D.C. and remember to love one another, to display random acts of kindness, to say thank you to perfect strangers, basically we need to pay things forward. Take the time to hug our children, our spouses, our neighbors. No matter our politics, in the end we are all in this together for better or worse.

Here is a display of what this season is all about. While in Fairfax at Bjs, Greta Van Susteren captured a video fo Todd and Trig Palin, click here. This video shows how special children, especially children like Trig, are. This is why we need to take a step back. Watch the smiles moving across Trig’s face as his daddy plays with him. This is the reason for the season!

We also must remember those who can not be home with loved this Christmas. They are on the front lines protecting our freedoms. They are giving us the opportunities that we have today. May God bless our troops and their families.

I leave you with these thoughts: we must have hope, faith and love this holiday season and all year long. God bless us all! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all!
